Surrey Success
At the Surrey County Cross Country Championships on 4 January, there were team medals across the board for the juniors.
Benjy Street took the U20 title, with the team of three, completed by Jack Hobden (9th) and Isaac Lutaya Lutaya (14th), taking the bronze medals.
The U13 Boys won gold, with Ivan Derian taking the individual silver medal, and Max Harrison and Thomas Hennigan finishing in fourth and fifth. Alex Derian in eighth, completed the team. Jessica Wood won an individual silver in U13 Girls race, with the team finishing in third, thanks to Anna Wait (11th), Elena Monteza-Pringle (23rd) and Ava Wallace-Shafie in 30th, while Isabella Harrison also claimed the silver in the U15G race, with Freia Harper-Tee (eighth), Leah Paulson (19th) and Summer McDougall in 32nd securing silver medals for the team, too.
For the U15 Boys Theo Creed also won individual silver, with Harry Allen (10th), James Fraser (14th) and Oliver Cartwright Smith, in 15th, securing team silver, while in the U17 Men’s race, Pancho Panchev (seventh), Noah Fernandez (12th) and Joseph Rumfitt (22nd) also finished in the silver medal position.
The U17 Women’s team finished in fourth, with Lara Delport in 11th, Dillan Quinn in 14th and Ava McAndie in 21st.
In the incomplete U20 Women’s team Eloise Davies finished in 17th, with Charlotte Lam in 18th.
The Senior men, most of whom were focusing on retaining the Surrey League title and building up to the Southern Cross Country Championships, were sixth, as Ed Mallett finished in 11th, Henry Silverstein in 20th and Eoin Brady in 21st. Jackson Creegan (53rd), Joe Clark (59th) and Peter Lee (141st) completed the team. In the Norfolk County Championships, Sam Todd was seventh, while in the Berkshire Championships before Christmas, Alex Sutton finished sixth.

At the Friday Night Under the Lights Christmas 5 Miles in Battersea Park on 20 December, Andrew Penney finished third in 23:32, a time which put him sixth on the Club’s all-time list. Ruby Carter was the third woman home in 27:31, a new all-time Women’s Club record. Only weeks after representing Great Britain in the 100K World Championships in India, Alex Milne finished 11th in 24:21. Also racing were Tom Drayton, who finished 45th in a PB of 25:52, Hector Revill, 67th in 26:44, and Tom Davies, 129th in 28:44.

In the lat major race of the year, the Podium 5K and 1 Mile Event at Battersea on New Year’s Eve, Ruby Carter was 17th in the Elite Women’s Race in 16:52. Charles Holder, U17, won the first race in 15:40. Fellow U17 Noah Fernandez was 12th in 15:58, and Sebastian Cockerell (U20) was 15th in 16:05. In Race 2 U20 Benjy Street was second in 14:52, with Jack Hobden, also U20, 46th in 16:01.
In the Mile Archie Walton was fourth in 4:14, William Lambert was the first U15B home in 5:29, while Summer McDougall was the first U15 Girl in 5:56.
