Three in a Row

The Senior Men’s team edged closer to a fantastic fifth Surrey League title at West Horsley Place on 11 January, winning the third match in the picturesque setting in which they clinched the title in the last match in 2024. On this occasion they extended their lead at the top of the table to 538 points over second place Belgrave on 721.

Discounting the guesting Oxford University students who were trialling for the BUCS Championships Jonny Cornish was first home for HW in fifth, with Toby Cooke in ninth. Alex Milne, currently sitting in third in the individual rankings, was 12th, with second-claim Michael Wilson in 13th. George Mallett (17th), Ed Mallett (21st), Fred Slemeck (22nd), James Stockings (23rd), Rhys Boorman (27th) and Henry Silverstein, in 37th, closed the scoring A team. Eoin Brady was next home, and first for the B team which finished second in the B table.

In the U13 Boys race Max Harrison, Ivan Derian and Thomas Hennigan completed a one, two, three finish, with Alex Derian in sixth completing the winning team, to keep the boys at the top of their table. In the U13 Girls race there was also a win for Jessica Wood, with Anna Wait supporting in fourth, to see the girls second in their table going into the final match.

U15s Isabella Harrison and Freia Harper-Tee were first and third respectively in the combined U15 Girls/U17 Women’s race to help keep both age groups top of their respective Leagues, while U17 Pancho Panchev was third in the U15 Boys/U17 Men’s race, with U15 Theo Creed sixth, the first U15 home, consolidating second place in their combined League.

A somewhat depleted women’s team finished in 10th (9th in the League) with W45 Claire Grima first woman home.
