About Dave Clarke

Dave Clarke is one of Britain's finest cross country runners, and one of  Hercules Wimbledon AC’s best known track athletes (as well as our Chairman), who ran for Great Britain in the 5,000m at the inaugural World Track and Field Championships at Helsinki in 1983. Three times English Cross Country Champion, he represented Great Britain twelve times in the World Cross Country Championships, and in the heyday of British middle and long distance running in the eighties and nineties, he lined up alongside the likes of Dave Moorcroft, Brendan Foster, Mike McLeod, Tim Hutchins, Sebastian Coe and Steve Ovett.

Dave set his best time of 3:56.95 for the mile at Crystal Palace in 1982 when representing Great Britain against the USA.
