The U17 Men’s team of Noah Fernandez, Alex McGuigan and Pancho Panchev were victorious at the South of England Cross-Country Relays at Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday, 19 October, finishing 12 seconds clear of second-placed Chiltern Harriers over the 3km (approx) course. The U13 Boys team of Thomas Hennigan, Fredric Bolton and Max Harrison continued their medal-winning streak, this time finishing in bronze medal position in their race over approx 2km. The U15 Girls, Freya McAndie, Freia Harper-Tee and Isabella Harrison. were fourth and the U15 boys fifth, with Theo Creed in his first year as an U15, clocking the second fastest leg of the day.
Out on the roads George Mallett was second in the Yorkshire Marathon in York on Sunday 20th October, running 2:26:06, a time which sees him move into 17th on the all-time Club rankings, while U23 Hector Revill, now studying at St Andrews university, made his marathon debut in Frankfurt on 27 October, finishing in 2:35:20, and spurring on proud dad Ben (M50) to a 3:23:48 PB of his own.
On the same day in Spain, running over the Half Marathon distance Ryan McAlister and Chris McIllroy finished in 71:55 and 72:36 respectively, while on the previous weekend Andrew McArthur (M35) lowered his PB to 74:02 in the Manchester Half.
Meanwhile, In this year’s edition of the annual Cabbage Patch 10 Mile race in Twickenham Adam May (M40) was first home for the Club in 64:43, followed by W45 Gina Galbraith in 65:24. Rob Tuer (M35) finished in 66:39 and Andrew Davies (M50) in 68:32. Charles Hampden-Smith (M60) followed in, in 68:48, with Stewart Bond (M55) in 74:56, Peter Lee (M55) in 75:18, and Simon Bodle (M60) in 86.55.
